"The God Committee" may be closed, but it looks like my time at Oil Lamp Theater is not! I do want to thank and give a giant virtual hug to everyone who came out to see "The God Committee" and made this a very popular run. We performed this provocative story for everyone from youth ethics classes, to senior groups, to birthday parties, to actual "Gift of Hope" transplant recipients and family members. It was truly a pleasure and an honor. Now the big news! I have accepted the role of Connie in "Come Blow Your Horn", Oil Lamp Theater's summer show, which runs June 26 - August 3rd! Details with more to come are in my Current Projects section, so be sure to check it out! I'm thrilled to be working with the fine people at Oil Lamp Theater again and can't wait for the first readthrough! Thanks for reading and see you at the theatre!

Information and tickets: http://www.dreamtheatrecompany.com/now-showing-rio-click-here-to-read-more-about-the-current-production.html 6 plays: 6 writers 6 directors a cast of actresses THEATRE OF WOMEN (TOW) is Dream Theatre Company's annual play festival consisting of ten minute plays written, rehearsed and performed in a span of 24 hours that celebrates the actress as performing artist. Dream Theatre Company's focus on the actress as artist and lead is apparent in all of their productions. The idea behind the creation of TOW was to push the art of acting through the examination of the actress in the play. These women are created to be strong, sexy, funny, villains, heroines, demons or even to play men, boys or genderless roles. "They are created so we can show the world that Passion, Strength, Innocence, and Intelligence are traits to be valued and celebrated." Over the years this mission hasn't changed and many artistic relationships and funny, creative scripts have blossomed from these 24 hour festivals. This year we will uphold the traditions of the past while continuing to explore the question: What is it to be a woman in theatre today? EVENT LOCATION: Dream Theatre - 556 West 18th Street PERFORMANCES: 8:00pm & 10:00pm Come see me act in a 10 minute play that was written, rehearsed, and performed in 24 hours! Purchase Tickets After a break for some acting classes at Black Box Acting Studio (level 3 was intense but amazing!) I am back in action!
On the docket: Theatre of Women 24hr Festival! Coming up Saturday 1/25, I will arrive at Dream Theatre at 8am to start working on a 10 minute script that was written the day before. Myself and a group of talented actresses, directors, and playwrights will showcase these scripts by 8pm. Join us for an evening of theatre, with all female casts! Rio I am assistant directing this original script at Dream Theatre Company. Written by and starring artistic director Jeremy Menekseoglu, this show is going to knock some socks off. Scary, funny, and unlike anything else you'll see in Chicago. Laura Gouin has taken me under her wing for this show, and I am excited to learn everything I can from her. The God Committee Throughout March and April you will find me in Glenview at the Oil Lamp Theater performing as Dr. Kierra Banks in "The God Committee" by Mark St. Germain. This ensemble show will be directed by Artistic Director, Keith Gerth, and explores the question of how organ transplant recipients are selected when an organ suddenly becomes available. Think of it as a cross of 12 Angry Men, E.R., and Grey's Anatomy. So thrilled to work with this company for the first time! There are future projects with Dream Theatre on the horizon, and please join us for Dream Theatre's Gala on Feb 1 to announce and celebrate the new season! Love outdoor theatre? Hiking? Hilarious Christmas entertainment and variety acts? Make a tax-deductible donation to Theatre-Hikes Chicago! This is a company that gave me one of my very first acting opportunities in Chicago, so I'm thanking them by volunteering my time to perform in their fundraiser. A Very Irreverent Christmas Carol: Indiegogo Campaign & Fundraiser Celebration In the midst of the holiday season a little levity may be in order. On the Winter Solstice, come join us as we present our version of Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' a rock spoof on our favorite holiday show. This is our annual fundraiser and our way of saying thanks to our patrons - plus it's an excuse to have Dolly Parton, Bob Marley and Elvis play the ghosts! Join us at on 12/21/13 at 7pm at Evviva Bar & Eatery - 1017 Front Street Lisle, IL 60532, tickets are $30 or a table of 4 for $100 including complimentary beer and wine. Who is Theatre-Hikes? We began in Chicago Almost 15 years ago combining our love of theater and nature as we perform live shows while hiking in great locations like Grant Park, Millenium Park, Pulman State Historic Site, University of Chicago (Rockefeller Chapel) to name a few. We've grown to include Theatre-Hikes Colorado and Theatre-Hikes Los Angeles (slated to begin productions in 2014). As Women! A Comedy draws to a close this weekend, our writer and director (as well as actor and artistic director of Dream Theatre Company), Jeremy Menekseoglu, has asked me to return to the stage for their next production, Audience Annihilated Part Two: Gold Star. This original horror show puts YOU, the audience member, as the Lead Role, as the actors take you on a terrifying journey through a child's nightmare. This show is performed every half hour starting at 7:30pm, Oct 19-23 and Oct 27-Nov 3. Dates and times are not 100% finalized, so check back for final details! The shows sell out fast, as only 4 audience members are allowed in at a time. Gallery viewing is available for those who don't wish to participate. Roles will be rotated so you never know who you might get on any given night! Meanwhile, I've secured a place in the Level 3 Studio course at Black Box Acting Studio! I've loved working with this organization and learning how to utilize the Meisner Technique to my advantage on stage. This course combines Meisner and Viewpoints, and from what I hear, is pretty killer. Can't wait! We'll be meeting twice a week, starting the day after Gold Star closes. Still auditioning in the meantime!
I am very excited to announce that I have been cast as "50's Housewife" and "Patricia" in WOMEN! (a comedy) by Jeremy Menekseoglu with Dream Theatre Company! This show features 7 short (darkly) hilarious plays all featuring women. My character, 1950's Housewife, is a part of the short play called "1950's Impromptu Dinner Etiquette". My other character, Patricia, is a part of the short play called "Infans Satani". First read through is Monday! Updates with specific show dates to come soon, but it will be sometime in September through Oct. 8.
In the meantime, I'll be an extra in a national commercial filming here in Chicago this Friday and Saturday. I can't release any details, but hopefully It'll be a great two days of filming! Cheers Bikini Shakespeare is back! It's a LOT colder outside this time around, but the show is just as hot ;). I'm playing Ariel, the magical spirit of the island. This is a role I've often coveted and am thrilled to be putting my spin on it. And in an interesting twist of fate, and great excuse for a drastic hair change, I'm dying my hair PLATINUM BLONDE for the role! We may me doing some colorful spray in highlights for the show, but day to day will be platinum. Whether I keep the look is up in the air, I do love being a redhead, but my roots are blonde so.....we shall see. I'm pretty pale so I fear being a little too "albino". Photos will be forthcoming, to be sure. The best part, is I'm getting the color done for FREE! Huge thank you to Michael Anthony Salon on State Street in Chicago, and Courtney who will be doing my hair. I will be a "hair model" for Courtney who is a student at the salon, and in return the whole service is free to me. If I love it, I may have to get some new headshots...
Anyway, back on track. We are in the thick of rehearsals, with the off-book date coming up in 2 days, and we open in 1 month. The cast is bigger, there are some great actors who have returned, and some spectacular new faces as well. We've got a new costumer, and lots in store. I'm excited to see how the show finally comes together over the next month. In the meantime, continuing to audition for whatever I can and get myself out there. Details are up on what, where, when, and how to see The Werewolf's Curse (or Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow)! Check out my Current Projects page to get the scoop.
We start rehearsals on Sept 4! I have decided to revive the "News" blog!
I figure....I've moved to Chicago...the folks back home (in Indiana....cue music...) want to know what's going on....and it's an easy way to communicate projects, and happenings, and mayhem, so there you have it. A little catch-up to do, but we'll make it happen people. So my first bit of news---- drumroll please ---- I've been asked to play Etta Greenleaf in The Werewolf's Curse! Rocco Renda directs this Theatre-Hikes production. Coincidentally, he is also the costume designer for another Theatre-Hikes show I'm in (that opens this Saturday), Streeterville. Werewolf's Curse looks like a lot of fun and I'm very excited to join this cast. All the fun details shall soon be added to the "Current Projects" section. Hurray for acting work in Chicago! |
